Speaking to high school students
of English in Kirn

On my 2010 tour I did nine readings in Berlin, Frankfurt and other cities.  The smallest was Kirn in bucolic Rheinland-Pfalz.  It's a lovely town of baroque buildings and half-timbered houses, along a river, and the people couldn't have been friendlier, the students more attentive and full of questions. I was greeted by a representative from the Mayor's Office and the red carpet was definitely rolled out for my talk and reading at the town's main library. The hosts knew from my web site that I like Radlers and so they gave me a local version which I enjoyed after the reading, as well as other gifts.  The day was sunny, the town gorgeous, lunch afterwards terrific, my companions Walter Wieland and Miriam Jaster from the American Consulate in Frankfurt delightful.  Road trip!

For those who can read German, here's a report from the local paper.
And for those who don't read German: frankfurt.usconsulate.gov/2010/10/30/raphael.html
